Harvesting Fruit Outdoors

grow a vision

Ecologic Solutions designs food forests for properties of every scale, from suburban backyards to broadacre holdings, using syntropic and permaculture methods and built around your property's own frost, water, soil and slope.

empower & sustain

A food forest mimics the structure of a natural forest rather than a conventional garden bed. Species are arranged across their light requirements and lifespan, from fast-growing annuals that build soil and shade, through to slower growing trees that form the long-term system. Managed well, a food forest becomes largely self-fertilising: pruning at certain times of the year encourages the forest to grow. Light, water and nutrients are captured continuously and fed to productive species such as fruit and nut trees.

Let's talk about your land.

tell me a bit about your site and what you're hoping to achieve - I'll get back to you personally, whether that's an on-site consultation or a remote design for wherever you're based.

who is this for?

  • Landowners with acreage who want a plan for what to plant where

  • Homeowners wanting a beautiful and productive, food producing garden

  • Anyone starting from an unclear or degraded site who wants a sequenced, staged plan

what's involved?

A food forest design maps out:

  • Which species suit the site's climate and available space

  • How those species are arranged and planted.

  • A management timeline covering the first year of establishment through to maturity

For sites closer to the house - front yards, borders, areas in everyday view - the same approach applies as edible landscape design: productive planting that's also arranged to look intentional, balancing yield against everyday use of the space..

Family Gardening Together

how the process works

  • Site information. Location, available space, existing conditions, and goals.

  • Data-grounded assessment. Climate zone, soil, and spacing constraints inform which species are viable.

  • Design. Species selection and layout, built from a reference database of species matched to climate, strata, and succession stage.

  • Blueprint. A plan showing the steps needed to bring your dream to life, covering species, layout, and a multi-year establishment timeline.
